Starting from scratch with Bruce Banner

The custom game format sets the tone fast. You start with a team of three heroes, one non ultimate ability, and zero upgrades. The only way forward is to win each encounter, collect money, and build up your team with careful shop purchases. The creator selected the X Men faction, which randomly adds a teammate luckily, that turned out to be Loki. With Bruce as his primary, he began climbing the nine encounter gauntlet, leaning heavily on the accuracy and reflexes of his scripted bot companions.

Despite being an underdog, Bruce performed surprisingly well early on. With each win, the shop offered a choice between power items and passive upgrades. Picking Galactus Brutality which unlocks all non ult abilities was a key move. Combined with Counter Intelligence (removing mission requirements), the early encounters were manageable.

Mid game is where the strategy kicks in

As the bot proved consistent, the player focused on economy and sustainability. Double Discretion was selected, which lowered the difficulty of enemy bots rather than strengthening his own team. This choice paid off massively. By the time encounter 5 rolled around, the player had an efficient team comp, solid synergy, and Twitch chat doubters were noticeably silent.

During one upgrade shop, he grabbed the Mind Stone, offering passive bonuses, and passed over the more obvious combat buffs. Strategy trumped firepower. Meanwhile, his bot roster added Mantis, Neymar, and others through comic drops and random rolls. With Mantis as his main, the DPS output scaled up fast.

By encounter 7 which usually ends most players’ runs he was not just surviving but dominating. The bots on his team were doing their jobs, and he was making each gold count.

The final encounter and a high stakes finish

As the final battles neared, the shop once again delivered. With only one gold to spare, he sold Galactus Discretion to buy “Assemble the Team,” removed his underperformers (Bruce and Neymar), and rolled a new team with prime comics. Squirrel Girl and a return of Bruce sealed the final lineup. His co op teammate, Luna, joined for the finale using Squirrel Girl, and the synergy clicked immediately.

In encounter 9, all abilities and ults were unlocked via the Last Chance item. Enemy bots got stronger, but so did the player’s team. The tension was real. After multiple failed attempts, they pulled off a miracle win using perfect ult timing, tight rotations, and strong team communication. The streamer celebrated with Twitch chat and confirmed the $250 was now his.
