What’s new for Scarlet Witch in the latest patch

In the latest patch (version 20250912), Marvel Rivals Scarlet Witch finally becomes the powerhouse fans have been waiting for. The developers introduced game changing buffs to her survivability and her ultimate ability, making Wanda Maximoff one of the most dangerous picks in the current meta.

One of the most welcomed changes is that Scarlet Witch can now be healed by teammates during her Mystic Projection. Previously, going into this phase meant cutting off all support, which often left her vulnerable. Now, healers can maintain their impact, helping her stay in fights longer and making her less of a high risk pick.

The most dramatic change comes to her ultimate ability Reality Erasure. Its damage has skyrocketed from 800 to an absurd 9999. That’s not a typo. This number means practically no one can survive the blast unless they have significant mobility or manage to escape the range.

Even more dangerous is the new mechanic added to this ability. While casting Reality Erasure, Scarlet Witch now pulls in enemies within a 15 meter radius. The pull happens at a speed of 2.4 meters per second, just a tad slower than most heroes’ movement speed. If an enemy is caught in the pull and doesn’t escape quickly, they are almost certainly going down.

Why these changes shift the meta

Scarlet Witch has transformed from a medium tier hero into one of the most feared on the field. This massive damage buff combined with improved survivability gives her more presence in both team fights and solo picks.

The pull in effect adds a serious zoning element to her playstyle. Teams can no longer afford to stack or push together if she has her ultimate ready. Smart Scarlet Witch players can now force opponents to scatter, or group them for multi kills. It also increases her synergy with crowd control teammates like Magneto or Doctor Strange.

Opponents now need to respect her positioning. Ignoring Scarlet Witch in team fights is no longer an option. A well timed ultimate can wipe an entire team if not handled correctly. Stunning or bursting her during the cast is still a viable counter, but you’ll need tight timing and strong coordination.

How to adapt your playstyle

As Scarlet Witch: Pair with support characters who can keep you alive during Mystic Projection. Use your ultimate in choke points or when enemies are locked down by other abilities. Be patient and make sure your timing is perfect to maximize the pull in and blast combo.

Against Scarlet Witch: Avoid clumping together. Keep track of her ultimate cooldown and stay out of her 15 meter range. Use knockbacks, stuns or anti cast mechanics to interrupt her before she completes the ultimate.

For team comps: Heroes that can interrupt, displace or silence her become even more valuable. Prioritize heroes like Squirrel Girl or Thor who have area disruption tools. Expect her to be banned more often in ranked matches.

Other relevant balance changes

The full Marvel Rivals patch doesn’t just focus on Scarlet Witch. Several other characters were nerfed or buffed to maintain balance. For example, her Arcane Order team up ability with Magic was nerfed slightly, reducing Sorcery Surge’s explosion damage from 12 to 6, likely to offset how powerful her standalone ultimate has become.

Other big changes include:

Penny Parker now slows enemies up to 40 percent with her spider drone, making her lethal against tanks.
Thor’s ultimate now stuns after landing and has increased movement speed.
Invisible Woman’s ultimate now slows enemies inside her barrier, making her even more of a support control pick.
