It’s official — Season 3.5’s full balance patch is here and it’s packed with some surprising hero updates. From long-awaited nerfs to Black Panther and Magneto to interesting buffs for Thor, Doctor Strange, and Iron Fist, this patch could seriously shake up the meta just in time for the August 8th rollout.
Cozy Rivals just broke down all the juicy details, and we’re here to give you the cleanest recap on what’s getting buffed, nerfed, or straight-up reworked. Let’s get into it.
Doctor Strange, Groot & Thor Buffed Up
Doctor Strange is finally getting some love with extra survivability and pressure tools:
- Ammo increased from 8 to 10
- Cloak of Levitation cooldown reduced from 15s to 12s
This makes him more consistent for both setups and escapes. He’s not quite S-tier, but he’s close.
Groot is back in business with two major buffs:
- Vine Strike range increased from 20m to 22m
- Flora Colossus effect radius boosted from 20m to 24m
Better wall synergy means more healing, more damage, and more presence in tight fights. In the right hands, Groot’s climbing back to top-tier Vanguard status.
Thor might finally be viable again thanks to:
- Gaining 1 Thor Force immediately after exiting Awakened State
- Lightning Realm now grounds enemies for 2 seconds when they leave its radius
This gives Thor more combo options and better control over aerial duelists. These changes amplify his bully playstyle and make him more threatening.
Magneto and Black Panther Finally Hit With Nerfs
Magneto has been untouched for too long, but that’s changing now:
- Metal Bulwark and Iron shield value reduced from 300 to 250
Not a huge nerf, but enough to chip away at his tanky edge and reduce his auto-pick dominance.
Black Panther gets punished if you miss:
- Sprint cooldown increased from 8s to 10s
This specifically targets his insane reset potential. Good Black Panthers will still thrive, but sloppy players will feel the burn.
Iron Fist Reworked, Star-Lord and Spider-Man Buffed
Iron Fist is getting a full kit tweak:
- Loses 10% team-up bonus damage
But in return: - Fifth strike damage increased from 50 to 55
- Kick damage increased from 30 to 35
- Max HP percent damage raised from 2.1% to 2.7%
- Meditation buff now lasts 2 seconds instead of 1 before decaying
These changes buff him against tanks and let him sustain better in fights. A more balanced Iron Fist that still rewards skillful play.
Star-Lord becomes harder to kill:
- Gains 25 bonus HP for 3s after using Stellar Shift
With Rocket’s teleport team-up, Star-Lord now has more mobility and burst survivability. Could be a sleeper pick in duelist matchups.
Spider-Man gets a clean ult buff:
- Spectacular Spin damage increased from 150 to 170 per second
Also, Human Torch’s team-up with Spidey got cleaned up — his backflip distance was shortened to enable better combo setups. This helps make his burst a bit more lethal.
Wolverine Ult Nerfed Again
Wolverine continues to feel the heat:
- Healing no longer builds ult charge
- Ultimate energy cost increased from 2,800 to 3,400
That’s a big nerf to Last Stand, one of the most dangerous ults in the game. He’s still strong but clearly not the unstoppable force he once was.
Strategist Changes: Adam Warlock Rework, Mantis Buffs
Adam Warlock gets a major rework now that the triple revive passive is gone:
- Karmic Revival now grants 70% bonus HP for 5 seconds post-revive
- Cosmic Cluster reduces Avatar Livestream charge time by 0.3s per hit
This makes Adam a more proactive support. Instead of sitting on res, you’re now rewarded for aggressive support play and aim skill.
Mantis gets a mix of nerfs and buffs:
- Team-up with Loki and Groot grants +10% healing
- Flower healing over time reduced from 12.5/s to 10/s
- Burst heal increased to 60.5/s with new buff
- Ammo reduced from 20 to 15
- Ultimate bonus health conversion rate increased from 0.7 to 1.0
While her healing over time is slightly worse, her burst healing and team-up power are looking stronger. She might actually find a consistent place in competitive comps.
Cloak and Dagger Nerfed (Slightly)
Cloak and Dagger had their ult charge increased:
- Ult charge requirement increased from 4,000 to 4,300
It’s a small tweak, but noticeable at higher levels where their fast-charging ult could dominate. Still one of the best strategist duos in the game.
And Who Escaped Completely?
No changes for some of the most dominant picks in the game:
- Luna Snow still untouched
- Loki also escaped, despite recent dominance
- Emma Frost, Hela, Jean Grey, Psylocke, Winter Soldier, and Namor all avoided the patch scalpel
So yeah — expect those picks to stay meta until Season 4.
That’s your full breakdown of the Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 balance patch dropping on August 8th. With just a few weeks left before Season 4 launches, these changes are going to define how the end of this season plays out — and they look like a strong step in shaking up stale team comps and giving forgotten heroes another chance to shine.
